Institute of Business and Management Studies
was founded in 1996 by a consortium of management and International
Business Relations Consultants. It was incorporated in March,
1997 and commenced business in June 1997.
This Institute is a unique professional body,
because it is designed to provide specialized, sound business
and management education to students, practicing managers,
directors and business motivators through well- organized
study curriculum, leading to the attainment of Certificates,
Diplomas, Post Graduate Diplomas and Masters Degree in Business
Administration (MBA).
In pursuance of its objectives, courses,
seminars and workshops run by IBMS are designed to build every
participant and the national economy. More importantly, the
courses are also designed to enable captains of industries,
senior public servants and other business opinion leaders
to become more efficient and effective in discharging their
duties. Thus participants are assisted to acquire skills necessary
for decision making, formulation and implementation of major
policies.
The Institute has been conducting examinations
and award certificates in Business Management. The grades
of the examinations are Certificate, Diploma, Higher Diploma
and Advanced Diploma.
In its desire to respond effectively and
pro- actively to educational needs of Nigerians, the Institute
in 1997 entered into training collaborations with the centre
for Research and Development of the Ondo State University,
Ado Ekiti. Under the agreement, the Institute co-ordinates
and run the University’s Diploma programmes in Lagos. It was
very successful.
The Institute is coming up very strongly
in the areas of consultancy, Policy Research and Decision
making, Development in Women education and distance learning
programmes. Programmes of the Institute traianing courses
were sent to major business houses for their patronage, and
their response was encouraging. In addition to its regular
courses, the Institute would on request undertake special
studies and in – house training courses. The services of the
Institute are open to all and sundry.
Finally, I wish to seize this opportunity
to invite qualified Nigerians, Foreigners, Businessmen and
Women to come forward and pick up the membership of the Institute
at the Associateship and Fellowship levels. The Institute
is one of the Professional bodies for modern Managers, Administrators
and Business Motivators.
