EXAMINATION PROCEDURES


Examinations are held twice in a year, which is May and November. Actual
dates of examinations are as announced in the national newspaper and
Institute’s Journal “Business Management Quarterly”. The examination
Fees should be confirmed in case there are changes. Examination timetable
is available from the Institute’s office. Only duly admitted and registered
Individuals are allowed to register for the examinations.

EXAMINATION RULES AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
• A minimum of 18 years of age.
• Must obtain at least four (4) SSCE, NECO, GCE (O/L) or WASC credit passes including English Language and Mathematics or Statistics or Accounts at not more than Two Sittings.
• Applicants who are above 30 years of age with lower grade, but with a minimum of 5 years relevant working experience may be considered.
• A university degree, a polytechnic diploma or a recognized professional certificate may be considered.


NUMBER OF SUBJECTS:
In each part of the professional examination scheme, candidates are
expected to take at least three subjects at a sitting and (except exempted)
cannot proceed to the next part unless all the subjects of the lower part
were passed.

NON – ATTENDANCE:
(a) Should the candidate fail to sit for an examination or withdraws after
the closing date, the examination fee is forfeited.
(b) In the event of illness subject to receipt of a medical report within 14
days from the first day of the examination session, fees will be transferred to the next examination series.

TRANSFERS
(a) Candidate who have registered for any examination but subsequently
Wish to transfer to the next series may do so up to 21 days before the first day of the examination, subject to payment of a transfer fee of
=N= 1,500. After this date, all examination fees are fortified.
(b) Once a transfer has been granted, the subjects must be taken at next
Examination series. The Transfer cannot apply to any other examination.
(c) Only ONE transfer of an examination paid for and not sat is allowed.


EXAMINATION EXEMPTIONS

The Institute may grant complete exemptions on a subject for subject basis within the relevant parts or levels of the examinations of the following professional bodies:

• The Nigerian Institute of Management
• Chartered Institute of Administration
• British Management Association
• Institute of Personnel Management
• Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators
• British Institute of Management
• Association of National Accountants of Nigeria
• Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria
• Institute of Cost Management Accountant
• Institute of Company and Commercial Accountant
• The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria
• The Association of Business Executive (London)

Also to be exempted are holders of the following certificates or awards:
(a) A University Degree recognized by the council, Or
(b) A good diploma of an Institution recognized by the council.
(c) The certificate of any other Institute of higher learning recognized by the Governing Council.

Application for exemption can only be done by the use of the appropriate exemption form, which is available at a fee.
