Direct / Student membership is open to B.Sc or HND holders and Undergraduates in Social Sciences or Management courses and OND holders with at least five years working experience/mature applicants with 10 years cognate experience. Admitted candidates will have the opportunity of undergoing conversion to B.Sc Degree under distance learning programme of the Columbus International University, UK. Objectives of IBMS Nigeria

The objectives of the institute are:

1) To promote and advance state of the art business and management education.
2) To provide recognized qualifications and membership platform for those who engage in business and management studies.
3) To engage in on the job intensive training for managers in the field of business and management administration.
4) To engage in aggressive research and development studies for the benefits of the members, students and the nation in particular.
5) To give its members and students a unique corporate identity.
6) To conduct examinations and awards certificates and diplomas in business management/allied studies.
7) To disseminate information about business and management in an official journal to be published quarterly by the institute.
8) To maintain close liaison with other professional organizations working in allied fields as well affiliate with Universities, Polytechnics both in and outside the country, for the advancement of business management education.

Examination Centres

The examination of the Institute will continue to be held at the Lagos centre for now. Adequate arrangements are being made to hold the Institute examination in all the state capitals and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

EXAMINATION RULES AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
• A minimum of 18 years of age.
• Must obtain at least four (4) SSCE, NECO, GCE (O/L) or WASC credit passes including English Language and Mathematics or Statistics or Accounts at not more than Two Sittings.
• Applicants who are above 30 years of age with lower grade, but with a minimum of 5 years relevant working experience may be considered.
• A university degree, a polytechnic diploma or a recognized professional certificate may be considered. read more

Membership of the institute is open to individuals and corporate bodies. The grading of individual member is in accordance with the standards set by the council..
Admission into any membership grade is subject to current academic and Professional qualifications and appropriate experience. There are five classes membership of the institute namely: Fellow, Full member, Associate member, Corporate and Student. Read more

Method of Teaching

The method of teaching shall be determined from time to time by the Education Committee. Students may Purchase the relevant study kits from the Institute education department.

There are real life lectures at centres accredited from time to time by the Institute. There are counseling and revision classes prior to the appropriate examination periods.

The Institute also organizes a Distance Learning Programme where students who so wish can receive their lectures by post or by electronic mails.

How to Enrol  
Application for registration, exemption may be made after going through the entry requirements. Any prospective applicant must satisfy the relevant requirements. Valid application for admission can only be made through the use of the prescribed forms for registration, exemptions or examinations.
